Habitat Hairdressing: Hair loss after pregnancy

By Laura Kerr

Hair loss after pregnancy is an issue that is not commonly spoken about. After having the most silky, shiny, thick hair it is disappointing for most women to lose their “Pregnancy Hair”As a hairdresser who hasn’t been through pregnancy I ask questions of every client who has this experience. The common theme seems to be that new mums are lucky if they get a chance to wash their hair in the first few weeks –  so I have came up with a few survival tips to aid this period.

TIP 1
Use a detangling brush daily to gently brush the hair through and trap any fallen hair in the brush. This can then be removed from the brush and not have to be collected from the floor.

TIP 2
There are chemical free products out there for deep cleaning and stimulation of scalp. This will help to increase blood flow to the hair follicles. NIOXIN is highly recommended by Habitat and also uses a scalp camera to monitor the effects the product is having on the health of the hair and scalp.

TIP 3
Sick of the PONYTAIL everyday? YouTube hairstyles to do at home as there are great tutorials for something a little bit more fancy but easy to do at home. All you need is a hair elastic some bobby pins and dry shampoo.
