Habitat Hairdressing: Battling with children and hair knots

By Laura Kerr

Fighting to brush out knots is painful for both parents and children.

I have three tips to make it all easier.

Using a detangling brush is a must have. COMBS will cause the knot to tighten up and become more painful to remove.

Lashings of leave in conditioner after brushing out will help to prevent knots from starting. Spray’s are the easiest to use.

Using a paddle brush whilst drying hair with a hair dryer will smooth out the cuticle and create a knot free base. Air drying will contribute to knots. Just a quick 5 minute blow dry will make life much easier. It’s finding the time to do this that’s the hardiest task.
