Tell us about you?
My name is Karen Ciano, founder of Quincy Lane in Sydney, Australia. I was born and raised in New Zealand. I trained as a chef in New Zealand and moved here at 22 years old. I’m married with a 2 1/2 year old boy.
How was Quincy Lane born?
I’d always loved baking and making sweets. While at home with a toddler and making biscuits for friends birthdays, I did a bit of research and decided I could sell these… So Quincy Lane was born.
Tell us about your honeymoon…
I spent a month of my honeymoon travelling around France following the Tour de France with my cycling fan husband. We hired a hatch back, bought a 2 man tent, an Eski and some plastic plates and cutlery! We camped on the side of the road in the Alps, the Pyrenees, Mount Ventoux and the most amazing places. We stayed in hotels every few days when the tour went through towns. The most we had was 4 nights in a row, in the tent, with no showers, etc!!! We’d walk to the local village to buy food. The most amazing experience of my life!!
Do you have a favourite recipe?
This Bill Granger recipe has for years been a great go to for dinner parties. It can prepared earlier and finished to serve! Perfect! Link to recipe.
What’s next for Quincy Lane?
As I’m fairly new, I just need to keep growing and developing, to keep ahead of the food and styling trends and developing new products and recipes. Stay tuned!
