Hi I’m Jackie O, and I live in Sydney (the best city in the world)!! I’m a radio announcer on the Kyle and Jackie O show broadcast on KIIS FM.
How did you end up on Breakfast radio?
I started working in radio when I was 18, answering the phones and doing a few shout outs at the end of the show. I was living in Adelaide at the time and quite happy working behind the scenes. I certainly never had any aspirations of being on air as I thought I was too shy, but when a radio consultant visited our station, he had other ideas.
I won’t bore you with the long version of this story but in the space of ten years, I went from co-hosting a night show in Adelaide to working on Sydney’s number one breakfast show in Sydney. I absolutely love my job and I am so thankful I get to work in an environment where we have so much fun and our only job is trying to make people laugh each day.
Tell us something AMAZING you have done…
I once gave away a million dollars. That felt pretty amazing!!! It was part of a radio competition called The Dawn Dig. We had buried 250 bags in the sand on Bondi Beach with only one bag containing the million dollars. Our contestant Isabella could only open one bag and she just happened to choose the right one. She was a really lovely girl too, I was so happy for her.
What is your number ONE organising tip?
Make lists. Tackle one thing at a time and don’t try and do everything at once. Do little bits each day and it won’t feel so overwhelming.
What’s next for Jackie O?
I get asked this all the time, so many people in my field have a number of things on the go. Clothing lines, perfumes, TV shows in production, food blogs etc.
But to be perfectly honest with you, I’m happy in the job I have and to add any more to that would mean more time away from my daughter, which wouldn’t be worth it to me.
The only other thing that interests me is the digital side of my business, so perhaps that’s something I would explore next year when Kitty is in school.
