Beautiful wings can’t fly without you: the story behind Miss Elite

My name is Kirsty Ghahramani. I am 35 years old, a wife to my amazing husband Ash and mother to two gorgeous children, Isabella (8) and Max (6). We live on the Central Coast in NSW where we have a business called Naturally Glutenfree. Recently my husband and I launched our own junior active wear brand called Miss Elite.

Since leaving school I have always been driven by the challenge of business and leading teams. My husband and I were only 22 when we purchased our first business, a Gloria Jeans franchise. We moved into business consulting and then launched Naturally Glutenfree in 2007.

The past eight years have been incredible but also very demanding. I have been juggling a business, working fulltime, commuting up to 4 hours a day, managing a household, raising two children and being a wife.
My husband and I decided it was time for a change in pace and, with this in mind, we created and launched Miss Elite in February 2016.

At Miss Elite we know how important it is for your child to wear fashionable active wear that is comfortable and durable, giving them the confidence to spread their wings and perform.

What makes Miss Elite so special?
My little athlete spends 20 hours a week in a gymnasium or dance studio. Over the years, I struggled to find crop tops that did not leave a red mark across her chest from the elastic. This used to concern me so we have created our first complete collection with no elastic in our crop tops. Our strategy has been designing the right fit and complementing this with high quality fabrics to ensure durability.

Knowing that gymnasts and dancers wear crop tops and shorts up to five times a week, we have created our first two collections with the flexibility to mix and match our products. This means that over time you can keep adding to your collection without having to buy a whole new set. At Miss Elite, we have created a product that is fun, comfortable and represents the energy essential to being ‘elite’.

What is next for Miss Elite?
We will be launching our brand to the Australian market during the next six months and making sure we have the foundation to grow our business at a steady rate. Our vision is to have our product in leading fitness retailers and dance stores across the country as well as on our website. Anything is possible and with hard work, commitment and vision I know that Miss Elite will have a strong future. We are looking forward to growing our online community of junior athletes and happy shoppers!!!

What is something people do not know about you?
I spent most of my childhood in hospital. When I was 9 I was the size of a four year old and malnourished. I underwent a complete stomach reconstruction to save my life which made medical history at the time. This surgery and being diagnosed with coeliac disease turned my life around. I believe that my fight back then has given me the strength to always try harder, to believe in your dreams and never give up.
